Attention all bookworms! Today one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen was spotted on MetaPicture! The site showcased a photo and gif series of books that had full paintings hidden within called fore-edge painting! Some of us out there may remember hiding names or small drawings on the edge of books in school which could only be revealed if the pages were pulled back. But what you’re about to see below goes beyond that and will surely fill your mind with wonder! You may even go back and see if any of your old books have a hidden picture to be revealed! According to the site, the practice of illustrating the edges of book pages dates back to the 1650’s! So if you’re determined to find one of these priceless pieces of art history, try to look at older publications. Good luck, and enjoy the splendor.
